Hamburg, April 2012. Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG has now organised their vast portfolio of Engine Mounts in a single catalogue. This new catalogue provides technicians with more product details, for example additional information on the part's installation environment.

The company has further developed and harmonized the structure of their range of over 15.600 components. The new component group catalogue for Engine Mounts gives more detailed information and is even easier for the user to access.

For this purpose, information per part is recorded in a central, media-independent database. Whether you are using the TecDoc system, the online catalogue on the MEYLE website or the printed catalogue, all data is retrieved from the same database. And because the information on each MEYLE article is organised according to the same system irrespective of the medium, users won't waste valuable time getting to grips with a different system.

"Knowing you can find the right product and whatever secondary information you need quickly, greatly simplifies workshop routine. The first part of the MEYLE catalogue lists the products for all the main vehicle manufacturers, organised according to model range. This way all the components for a given vehicle type can be presented clearly along with detailed information on installation. The second part contains a photo index. Distinct pictures with valuable product information ensure that repair professionals can identify articles easily and reliably. The third part allows users to navigate to parts and vehicle models through referencing lists and vehicle types.

Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG has deliberately avoided using a complex system of symbols to make the catalogue easy to use and ensure that it is an invaluable workshop resource. The sort sequence is designed to meet the needs of customers. The table of contents is organised according to make, model range, and vehicle type for greater clarity. The photographic index is structured according to the MEYLE article number in ascending order. In organising the manufacturers' references Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG kept closely to the manufacturer's data and used their sort sequence for the article numbers.

Catalogues will be monolingual and available in German, English, French and Spanish. As well as the print version the company can also provide the catalogue as a PDF file on request.

Hamburg, october 2011. Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG presents the very first MEYLE HD axial rod with fitting HD tie rod ends developed specifically for use in Renault models Espace and Avantime. To prevent steering play in these vehicles Wulf Gaertner engineers have enlarged both the diameter of the ball head in the axial rod , as well as in the tie rod end.

MEYLE-HD brand components outperform OE products in terms of durability and reliability. Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG has already refined 560 parts for thousands of different models, creating optimised MEYLE HD parts. For the first time Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG has now applied their philosophy of improved parts to an axial rod for Renault models Espace and Avantime which have been found to have above-average steering play in their general technical inspection caused by worn out axial rod and worn tie rod ends.

Worn out joints can have serious consequences for the driver. Steering manoeuvres which are not transferred precisely to the wheels can cause toe-in. This leads to greater wear on tyres and makes accidents more likely.

To prevent this Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG’s engineers have enlarged the ball head diameter of the tie rod end by up to four millimetres. A small change, but what a difference! The forces acting on the ball are distributed more evenly, significantly reducing the surface pressure on the plastic socket of the joint. It goes without saying that Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG only uses materials which will ensure the utmost durability. The plastic sockets are designed for low abrasion and wear-resistance. A high level of form stability ensures that they withstand a rough ride on poor road surfaces. Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG and their MEYLE brand have developed a pioneering rear axle trailing arm bushing to fit Ford Mondeo models. The new bushing design features an optimised composition of materials and can be replaced separately making repairs less complex and less costly. Using the original part requires a complete trailing arm replacement.

Based on multiple feedback from professional repairers engineers at Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG have developed a separately replaceable trailing arm bushing to fit the rear axle on Ford Mondeo models manufactured between 2000-2007. The bushing is a classic wear and tear part and therefore subject to heavy strain whenever the car is in operation. Owing to its rubber compound the bushing is the weakest link in the trailing arm and therefore the first component to fail. Exceedingly heavy loads or bad road conditions put the bearing bushing under above-average strain. As the rubber material is worn away overall part rigidity deteriorates resulting in rear axle misalignment. The car feels unresponsive and the risk of rear-wheel skidding increases.
 

Until now, the complete trailing arm had to be replaced even if only the rubber component of the bushing was worn. The innovative MEYLE bushing can now be replaced separately. During the manufacturing process utmost priority is given to the perfect combination of temperature, rubber and metal materials to reinforce rubber-to-metal bond strength.

The new MEYLE bushing significantly facilitates trailing arm repairs on Ford Mondeo models. It is now possible to replace the defective bushing for a new component simply by pressing the old part out and the new part in. The procedure is very time and cost efficient. With the new product Wulf Gaertner Autoparts restates its commitment to supporting independent repair shops in increasing customer satisfaction through improved repair services. The Hamburg Company Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG is offering a new range of improved upper control arm bushings for Volkswagen models. These chassis components have been redesigned due to their exposure to high levels of stress. The expert team at Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG have strengthened the critical cross section in the rubber component and also used a high-quality elastomer. This combination results in the new MEYLE-HD part lasting much longer than the original design. The upper control arm bushing is available from automotive parts retailers and comes with a four year guarantee.

Control arm bushings are exposed to strong forces during acceleration, braking and cornering. Bad roads or weather conditions can also contribute towards them becoming worn and less effective. Worn control arm bushings will in turn place increased stress on other suspension components and can cause wear throughout the suspension. This may lead to lower levels of safety and costly repairs to the chassis.

When performing numerous tests in the company’s own laboratory the engineers at Wulf Gaertner Autoparts identified the quality and the geometry of the rubber as being the main weak points in the conventional upper arm control bushing. In order to obtain a longer service life the engineers optimised the cross-section of the rubber and used an improved rubber compound. This rubber material has optimal damping characteristics. Also, the outer casing has been modified by reinforcing the necessary edge so that the casing can be pressed in easily. The new MEYLE-HD upper arm control bushing is now available for the vehicle models VW Golf V, Golf VI, Polo 9N, Touran, Caddy, Jetta, Scirocco, Audi A3, Skoda Octavia, Fabia, Praktik, Roomster, Superb and Seat Ibiza, Altea, Leon, Corboda.

Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG has enhanced its range of reinforced MEYLE-HD parts with an HD stabiliser for the Renault Mégane and Scénic models. Above-average service life is achieved by using a surface coating which exceeds OE standard. The axle strut with the new MEYLE-HD component is now available on the auto parts market for the first time, in outstanding quality.

Drivers of the Renault models, Mégane and Scénic, can breathe a sigh of relief, as in future there will be no need to repeatedly replace the stabiliser. The axle strut is a component in the rear axle and provides additional stability. However, its service life is reduced mostly on account of environmental influences such as road salt and wet conditions. Stone chippings also affect the surface coating. The Hamburg spare parts specialist, Wulf Gaertner Autoparts, now offers this stabiliser as an HD component. In contrast to the lacquered OE edition, the surface of the MEYLE-HD stabiliser is zinc-plated and lacquered. At the Automechanika trade fair 2010 Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG impressively proves the quality of the MEYLE brand platinum coated brake disc. The spare parts manufacturer from Hamburg offers a special zinc multi-disc coating which ensures longer rust protection. This is shown by the salt spray test which will be demonstrated at the trade fair stand. Furthermore, the brake disc has undergone cross-grinding to guarantee rapid running-in. The disc is delivered ready to assemble and requires no degreasing. The high quality PD brake disc from MEYLE is available for all popular vehicle makes of the premium and medium-class range and in the future also for the compact car range.

Wulf Gaertner Autoparts subjected their MEYLE PD brake disc to a ten day comparative test with a conventional brake disc from the aftermarket and an original disc which was also coated. The test results and the brake discs will be presented at the Automechanika trade fair. The salt spray test designed to simulate the influences of corrosion is an approved testing method according to DIN 50021SS standards. It was carried out in the quality laboratory at Wulf Gaertner Autoparts in Hamburg. Compared to the conventional brake disc which showed intense rusting over the entire surface area after 240 hours, the MEYLE PD brake disc displayed only a small amount of white rusting and isolated patches of rust on the surface and on the bores of the inner surface. The coated original brake disc also showed severe rusting close to the bores, increased rusting at the edges and also white rusting. “The clear results have verified our thoughts”, says Sven Nielsen, technical director of Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG. “They illustrate the importance of high-quality coating, especially for brake discs and show that that the aftermarket offers a very good alternative to the original parts also with regard to brake components.”

In its product range for brakes the Hamburg manufacturer Wulf Gaertner Autoparts offers a wide range of quality controlled brake discs, brake pads and components under the MEYLE brand. Compared to conventional brake discs the MEYLE PD brake disc is covered with a specially developed zinc multi-disc coating.The surface coating is chrome 6-free and contains neither chrome-oxide nor other heavy metals such as lead, cadmium, nickel or mercury. Cross-grinding guarantees the braking-in process. Furthermore, Wulf Gaertner Autoparts offers support through an additional service feature. This includes instructions on how to replace brake discs and brake pads. On the independent aftermarket the MEYLE brand owned by Hamburg manufacturer Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG has established itself as a viable alternative to OE parts. In the context of a modern exhibition stand at this year’s Automechanika the company will showcase the top sellers of the MEYLE and MEYLE-HD range for passenger cars, vans and commercial vehicles. Using a force flow simulator visitors will be offered the opportunity to look behind the scenes to experience how technically enhanced MEYLE-HD parts are designed and produced.

“We take care of all the details” is Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG’s motto at this year's Automechanika. The Hamburg-based spare parts manufacturer will be demonstrating the exhaustive analysis process which monitors and evaluates how the vehicle’s systems interact with one another, making MEYLE-HD parts stronger than their OE counterparts. When reengineering OE components the specialists always look at the wider picture and analyse the flow of forces in the entire system. MEYLE UK has now completed its new sales team for the UK. Responsible for the sales of these high-quality spare parts are the specialists Andrew Tress and Maike Andresen.

New to the sales team is Sales Manager Andrew Tress. With 20 years experience in the independent aftermarket he brings a wealth of knowledge and is well established within the market. Andrew Tress joins from ZF trading UK where he was a Key Account Manager. In his new position with MEYLE UK it is his role to develop the MEYLE brand and establish the UK distributor base.
 

Maike Andresen has been working for MEYLE’s parent company; Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG since 1996. Maike has extensive experience of the complete MEYLE product portfolio. Hamburg, December 2009. Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG is continually refining the range of HD parts marketed under their MEYLE brand to make them even more durable. MEYLE-HD stabilizer links are available for more than 5,000 applications and now feature a new and pioneering stability-enhancing design. We have developed a clip-on plastic socket which fits snugly into the steel housing secured by retaining latches. The name refers to the production process, in which the socket is clipped into the steel housing. In the next step, the retaining ring is inserted. Thanks to the new design, ultra-sound welding of the plastic socket has become obsolete which makes the new clip-on plastic socket absolutely free of welding burr.

The steel ball pin has also been reinforced. Product refinement has considerably improved the service life of MEYLE-HD stabilizer links. Endurance tests performed at the Hamburg Helmut Schmidt University gave no evidence of joint play even after 1,000,000 cycles.

Hamburg, October 2009. Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG adopts a new strategy for the French aftermarket. From now on, Eric Vaissière, 44, is in charge of all Meyle sales activities on the French market. His engagement of several years as sales manager of a reputable automotive parts supplier, where he was responsible for the company’s aftermarket operations on the French market, brings the necessary experience required for this project. His mission will be to make the Meyle brand in France as successful as it is in other countries across Europe. One of the challenges is the development of a logistic network supported by strategic sites across the country in close cooperation with reliable and strong local logistic partners, thereby improving our supply capacity including availability of the range of optimised Meyle HD parts.

By entrusting the implementation of the new strategy to Eric Vaissière Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG bundles its activities on the French market. “Our goal is to raise the profile of the Meyle brand in France and supply our French customers with premium-quality products, available at short notice and at competitive prices at all times,” explains Lars Peters, Regional Sales Manager Western Europe at Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG. Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG is specialized in the development, manufacturing and distribution of automotive spare parts. Under the brand name Meyle, the company markets a selection of Heavy Duty (HD) parts that share a special property: They equal the original parts and that of the original equipment manufacturers, except that they have been analyzed by Wulf Gaertner Autoparts engineers for technical weaknesses The parts have been improved accordingly, with a focus on more safety, longer service life and improved reliability.

A look at the annual recall statistics of the German Federal Motor Vehicle Office shows that despite their increasing technical sophistication, cars are increasingly vulnerable to technical defects. Senior Engineer Sven Nielsen confirms that observation: “Technical innovation is not always advantageous for motorists. Product development cycles are continuously becoming shorter, and the functionality of new components is often not adequately tested, resulting in teething troubles.”

For over a decade, around 30 Wulf Gaertner Autoparts engineers have been analyzing components that frequently require replacement during the warranty period. Nielsen and his team base their decision on whether to improve a part on recall reports and empirical values. Reasons for the shortcomings of parts are frequently low-quality material or insufficient stability. The development department initially focuses on determining which forces applied to the part are responsible for the failure. Depending on their findings, the design is modified, the internal structure reinforced, better-quality material used, or rubber-metal components are redesigned. During the improvement process, Wulf Gaertner Autoparts cooperates with established partners in the automotive industry that are specialists in their respective fields.

When modifying the component, observing its interaction with its environment is essential. “When developing HD parts, it’s extremely important to keep an eye on the overall system,” explained Manfred Wunder, who works with Sven Nielsen as the head of quality management. “We use mathematical models to simulate the flux of force affecting the part. After all, the relative strengths must be sound for our improvements to guarantee enhanced functionality.” All improved parts receive the “HD Quality” seal and the “HD” designation in their part numbers. “Heavy Duty (HD)” refers to parts subject to severe loads that call for extreme strength and durability. Wulf Gaertner Autoparts also uses the term for all parts that have been improved over the version available from the oríginal manufacturer and orginal equipment manufacturers. To date, around 500 parts – primarily related to steering & suspension, rubber-metal parts and cooling technology – have been enhanced significantly.
Wulf Gaertner Autoparts offers a four-year warranty on all HD articles for passengers cars and vans and a two-year warrranty for all other products.

The range of HD parts covers German and international makes. “Our objective is not to copy a part as quickly as possible, even if the demand is there,” emphasized Sven Nielsen. “With every step, we place the greatest value on attention to detail and the demonstrably higher quality of our parts. This year’s automechanika marks the beginning of a new epoch on the open automotive parts market: spare parts manufacturer Meyle Products will be giving service centers a four-year warranty on its HD (Heavy Duty) parts. Individually replaceable ball joints and improved stabilizer links are new additions to the HD program that will be on show in Frankfurt. Visitors will be able to see first-hand how Meyle engineers optimize HD parts in a theme tunnel. “A four-year warranty is unparalleled on the German automotive spare parts market. By offering our new warranty, we are giving service centers a new sales argument to foster trust and give their customers an incentive to have overdue repairs carried out,” explains Meyle Sales Manager Lars Gaertner. “Above-average service lives are a hallmark of Meyle HD parts. Our goal is to shield repair centers against complaints and give them the opportunity to generate service sales with satisfied customers.” The four-year warranty, which covers all products in the Heavy Duty line, will apply as of the first day of the trade fair. Meyle is presenting numerous additions to its HD product line at the world’s largest trade fair for the automotive supply industry, including ball joints for the Iveco Daily II and stabilizer links for the Ford Mondeo, Opel Astra and other vehicles. One of the advantages of HD ball joints over the originals is that they are individually replaceable. A worn rubber-metal part thus no longer means replacing the entire control arm. Modifications to HD stabilizer links to improve their ruggedness and extend their service lives include increasing their ball diameters, thus distributing loads over a greater area. A multimedia theme tunnel will give visitors insights into the process of improving spare parts, from development to production, including information on the materials used, quality assurance and manufacturing processes.

At this year’s automechanika Meyle Products underscores its position as a manufacturer of high-quality spare parts and offers numerous innovations. In a special passage visitors discover everything worth knowing about the improvement process for spare parts – from development all the way through to production. Hamburg, Germany, 03 March 2008. The new Meyle Products catalog for steering and suspension parts is now on its way to service centers. The Hamburg-based company completely restructured its product information for the current issue. Starting immediately, Meyle will be listing its products according to vehicle model groups in all media. Service personnel will thus be able to find what they need quickly and conveniently. Schematic suspension illustrations showing the installation positions of parts are a further new feature.

Meyle has resorted the available information on its range of around 10,000 products for easier access. The first medium to use the new structure is the freshly released steering and suspension parts print catalog. The full range of nearly 3,000 parts in this product group is now classified according to model groups – from Audi to Volvo. The result is a compact presentation of all of the parts available for an individual vehicle type. Specific vehicle manufacturers can be accessed instantly thanks to the practical page tabbing. Schematic suspension illustrations and a wide range of graphical icons to convey information such as “installation at rear left” assist service personnel in their day-to-day work. The catalog is available in English, German, Spanish, French and Russian.

Hamburg, Germany, 12 October 2007. Meyle Products, a Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG brand and manufacturer of spare parts for the open market, has released a line of optimized stabilizer links for numerous models such as the VW Sharan, Ford Galaxy, Seat Alhambra and popular French vehicles. The company, which is headquartered in Hamburg, Germany, is thus expanding its line of Heavy Duty (HD) parts. Stabilizer links reduce vehicle inclination in curves.

A “clack, clack, clack” noise can be a symptom of the worn ball head of a defective stabilizer link – especially if it occurs on cobblestones or similarly uneven road surfaces. Stabilizer links form a connection between the stabilizer and strut/control arm and are subject to heavy loads. If the rubber boot of a ball joint is torn or otherwise damaged, moisture can penetrate the joint, leading to loss of lubrication and increased corrosion. Significant ball head wear results in an unstable connection to stabilizer, which can become a serious safety hazard.

To improve the strength and service life of the stabilizer link, Meyle increased the ball diameter by 3mm to an average of 22mm. As a result, the loads acting on the ball heads are distributed over a greater area, reducing surface pressures. The rod itself was also enlarged, now measuring 11mm rather than the 9mm of the original part, increasing the load-bearing capacity and service life of the component.

The strengthened stabilizer links are available for the VW Sharan, Ford Galaxy and Seat Alhambra, as well as popular models of the French manufacturers Citroën, Peugeot and Renault. Meyle is currently developing stabilizer links for the Mercedes A class and other models. The new parts will be available in the near future.
