According to VAG the rubber bushing 6Q0 407 183 A
(MEYLE-No. 100 407 0077/HD) has been replaced
by 1K0 407 183 E (MEYLE-No. 100 710 0005/HD). In the process the bushing design has been modified.

Fitting instructions:
For correct alignment of the bushing, the ear must be directed toward the middle of the vehicle.

Operating principle

A flex disc is a torsionally flexible rubber disc used on vehicles with rear-wheel drive (e.g. BMW E36, E39, E46, Mercedes W124, 201, 202, 210) and 4x4 models to transmit torque from the transmission to the propeller shaft and from there to the rear-axle differential.

Flex disc wear is caused by strain as a result of:  

• Torque peaks due to sudden acceleration
• Adjustment to axial distance variations
• Adjustment to angular deviations
• Compensation for parallel displacement
• Humidity and other weather influences

Bearing

MEYLE water pumps of the latest generation are equipped with a double-row ball/roller bearing which is the most robust bearing type currently used in water pumps. Compared to conventional double-row ball bearings they provide increased load-carrying capability and consequently longer water pump life.

Impeller

Impellers made from higher-grade and more robust PPS plastic material clearly outperform metallic blade wheels. If the OE water pump features a PPS impeller, so does the MEYLE water pump.

Grease

MEYLE water pumps use grease from reputable Japanese manufacturer Kyodo Yushi which is the first choice for water pumps owing to the lubricant’s outstanding product specifications:

• Operating temperature range between -40 and 180°C
• Noise-absorbing
• Corrosion-proof
• Coolant-proof

Mechanical face seal

The use of high-quality mechanical face seals is absolutely essential to avoid the number-one cause of water pump failure - leakages. For MEYLE water pumps we rely on seal assemblies featuring a variety of top-grade components:

• Vibration-resistant fit thanks to additional bonding of the seal assembly to the pump housing
• Springs tuned to each seal type to ensure ideal clamping force on the slide rings

• increased ball head diameter from 28mm to 30mm provides enhanced load-carrying capability
• wear-resistant plastic socket developed in co-operation with Lufthansa Technik Intercoat GmbH
• use of special high-grade nuts

A unique feature of the part is its universal design: MEYLE-HD tie rod ends for BMW models fit axial joints on both ZF and TRW steering gears which also helps to streamline stock management processes.
