MEYLE-HD tie rod ends now also available for Peugeot and Citroën

Hamburg, 30. October 2013. Wulf Gaertner Autoparts has added new products to its range of MEYLE-HD parts for French applications. The tie rod end is an easy-wearing component on many Peugeot and Citroen models. That is why in-house Wulf Gaertner Autoparts` engineers have redesigned the part now featuring a larger ball head diameter to reduce overall surface pressure. This, in combination with high-grade low-wear materials, significantly increases part life. Hence, drivers of a Peugeot or Citroën benefit from fewer workshop visits and a full four-year warranty on MEYLE-HD tie rod end assemblies.

Many owners of a Peugeot or Citroën complain about excessive noise and play in the steering. In most cases, unresponsive vehicle handling is due to prematurely worn out tie rod ends. Subject to continuously high operating stresses these parts suffer from excessive radial forces as applied e.g. when steering while stationary or driving along bad roads, which eventually will cause the part to fail.

To increase tie rod end life Wulf Gaertner Autoparts has engineered HD tie rod end assemblies to fit Peugeot and Citroën models, marketed under the part numbers 1-16 020 5703 HD, 40-16 020 5724 HD und 40-16 020 5723 HD. Compared to the original-equipment design the ball head diameter of the technically enhanced MEYLE-HD part has been increased by 3mm to now measure 25mm, allowing the effective loads to be distributed across an approx. 25 prozent larger surface area and significantly reducing surface pressure on the ball joint's plastic socket.

The joint is made of selected materials, the tribological characteristics of which are perfectly balanced to minimise friction and ensure optimal material pairings. In addition, wear-reducing lubricating additives added to the high-tech grease help prevent in-part corrosion.

Combined, all these technical refinements ensure that MEYLE-HD tie rod end assemblies will outlast original equipment spares. As for all products of the MEYLE-HD range, Wulf Gaertner Autoparts gives a full four-year warranty on this HD part.
