New MEYLE office opened in China

Hamburg, December 2011. With its newly founded office in China, the German manufacturer of MEYLE brand parts, Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG, is intensifying their sales activities on the Asian markets even further. Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG Shanghai will handle a wide array of business operations from quality control, purchasing and sales to warehouse management and logistics. The automotive industry is China’s fastest growing market: 14 million new vehicles are being registered every year, and used cars made in Germany enjoy an ever wider popularity, in particular among China's middle-class population. The aftermarket is thus gradually evolving into an important pillar of China's economy. From their new office MEYLE is able to deliver the same scope and level of services as from its Hamburg headquarters. “Being as close as possible to the local market is essential for us to gain a foothold on the country’s emerging wholesale and repair sector. For us, this is a major requirement in order to actively steer operations on an extremely dynamic market”, explains Manfred Wunder, CEO at Wulf Gaertner Autoparts AG Shanghai. Operational and organisational structures, workflow processes, test regulations and equipment used at the new office have been set up according to the rigorous requirements of the Hamburg head office. At the Shanghai office a dedicated team of Chinese and German employees handles administrative matters, purchase, quality management, sales and logistics. The large area comprising several thousand square-meters also accommodates a quality test laboratory and extensive warehouse facilities to store the comprehensive range of MEYLE quality-branded spares. “Thanks to the new office we are able to proactively support and supply locations worldwide, build bridges and leverage synergies”, says Manfred Wunder, summing up the importance and opportunities the Hamburg family-run business associates with the new Shanghai office.
